About cork as a material:
Cork is the bark of the cork tree. This must be at least 25 years old to be "harvested" the first time. After that, the tree is harvested every 9 years. The bark is removed from the tree by manual labor, nothing happens to the tree, it is neither hurt, nor damaged.
Cork is thus a sustainable, ecological and renewable raw material!
