We soak the grain husks and seaweed in a bath of natural rubber milk. The juice of the rubber tree penetrates into the husks and shells, comparable to an oil for solid wood furniture. There is no sealing of the surfaces. They remain open-pored and breathable. The soaked grain husks are then dried and heated to approx. 80° C. The rubber is then pressed into the husks. Although the solidified rubber accounts for only about 4% of the dry mass of the finished fillings, it greatly increases their durability and longevity. They are dust-free and highly resistant to fine abrasion in use. The natural rubber milk used was obtained from ecologically managed plantations in southern India and purchased in accordance with Fair Trade criteria.

Tested organic quality:
Speltex - millet husks and spelt husks are obtained in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EC) No 834/2007. They are tested by the LACON - Institute (state-approved testing laboratory in accordance with EU organic regulations) for their origin from organic farming.
