Weltecke - Organic Cistus Tea

Bio Cistustee

Cistus Incanus, originating from the warm Mediterranean region, is very popular as a soothing tea. Small twigs and leaves of the cistus plant (also called cistus, cystus of cystus rose) are ground and made into cistus tea. Although the flowers of the cistus shrub resemble those of the dog rose, cistus is not related to the rose. It belongs to the Cistus family. Cistus shrub is a showy pink flowering shrub.

Polyphenol:
Cistus contains a high concentration of polyphenol. Chemically, polyphenols are aromatic carbon compounds that have antioxidant activity in the plant due to their particular molecular structure. The flavonoids, for example, the largest known subgroup of polyphenols, scavenge free radicals in the tissue and in this way protect the photosensitive photosynthetic apparatus in the leaves. Researchers around the world have been studying the biomedical effects of these substances for many years. Other foods, e.g. red wine or green tea, also contain small traces of polyphenols. Cistus tea, due to its comparatively high polyphenol concentration, is said to have defense-increasing, antioxidant, antibacterial, and antifungal effects.
